[They were right, Bill and Luke. Their world is terrible. Ford's seen some pretty terrible places in his time, and the hallmarks of the worst ones tend to be...well, this kind of thing. Eugenics, authoritarian control, birth into caste systems...social climbing through child surgery is a new one, though. He lets Bill talk, quiet for once in his life, letting the story come out. It was only one degree, he wants to protest, but that isn't the point, is it? It's the fact that irregular shapes were executed at all.
And Bill lost a brother to it. Maybe more. Neither of them will ever know.
