I'm really hoping you're getting way ahead of yourself, here.

It's a possibility I have to consider!

[Ford hasn't been privy to much of Bill's moping. He has, however, spent a full half of his life battling Bill. Ford is absolutely not going to assume that Bill is not going to threaten the populations and infrastructure of other dimensions without proof.

And even then, right when he thinks Bill has changed, Bill turns out to have been the same person the whole time, just in a new way.]

Just, please, for my sake at least, don't jump to any conclusions about Bill or his behavior.

[Because Luke doesn't know if Ford's like, putting it off to hide his hurt, or what.]

It was...complicated.

[And that's what Ford has to say about that. The details of it, of how he felt -- he doesn't have it in him to go into detail about what it did mean to him. He can't.]

I've already told Laura. Told a guy in the bar all about it, too, but that's what I get for trying to drown my sorrows in public.

Okay, I just...

I just want to be sure you've got people. Support. You know.

[He knows it's complicated. He wonders if even Ford realizes how much. But he can't say that now; can't say that Bill is actually hurt, can't say that he thinks Bill's reluctance to continue 'using' Ford is the very thing that has marked that he wasn't simply using him. That will work itself out, or won't.]

And if there's anything I can do...

I have a feeling this isn't going to go the way you might think.

[And he trusts Luke's feelings. He does! Hearing this makes Ford feel a little less ~~paranoid~~ distressed. But Ford has spent so long fighting Bill that he doesn't believe in not be prepared for contingencies.]
